How it is calculated
Rollover is expressed as a multiplier. The base it applies to changes the effort required of the player quite a bit:
| Rollover base | Calculation with a R$ 100 bonus and a R$ 100 deposit | Total to wager |
|---|---|---|
| On the bonus (10x) | 10 × R$ 100 | R$ 1,000 |
| On bonus + deposit (10x) | 10 × R$ 200 | R$ 2,000 |
That is why reading an offer correctly does not stop at the multiplier: a 5x rollover on bonus plus deposit is more demanding than an 8x on the bonus alone.
What counts as a valid bet
Not every bet meets the requirement in the same proportion. The contribution rules are set by the operator and usually vary by game category, precisely to keep the player from clearing the rollover with near-zero-risk bets.
- Slots normally contribute 100% of the amount wagered.
- Live and table games usually contribute a fraction (often 10% or less), because they have a lower house margin.
- Sports bets generally require a minimum odds threshold for the bet to count.
- Bets covering both sides of the same event are typically disregarded.
There is also commonly an expiration window: if the rollover is met outside the defined period, the bonus and its associated winnings expire.
Why rollover matters to the operator
Rollover is the mechanism that turns a bonus into real gaming activity, rather than an immediate withdrawal. Without it, a promotional campaign becomes pure acquisition cost, exploitable by anyone who deposits, receives the bonus, and withdraws right after.
The tuning is delicate in both directions. Too low a rollover erodes NGR, since bonuses and promotions enter precisely as a deduction from GGR in the net-revenue calculation. Too high a rollover drives players away, generates complaints, and wears down the brand — especially when the contribution rules are not clear in the offer's communication.
In the Brazilian market, regulated by Law No. 14,790/2023 and overseen by the SPA/Ministry of Finance, the transparency of promotional conditions and responsible-gaming tools are part of the operating requirements. In practice, this means the rollover rules must be visible and understandable at the moment the player accepts the bonus — not hidden in a generic terms page.
